Barcelona still owe more than €100m on transfer fees

Barcelona have released their financial report for the year ending June 30, 2025, and the results highlight some uncompleted transfer payments to other clubs.

According to SPORT, the Catalan giants still owe over €115 million in transfer fees for deals completed in recent years, including some of their high-profile signings.

The largest outstanding payments are linked to Raphinha, Robert Lewandowski and Jules Kounde.

They were all brought in during the 2022 summer transfer window when the club was undergoing a major squad rebuild.

Barca agreed a €58m deal to sign Raphinha from Leeds United, but have only paid €16.1m. They still owe a whopping €41.9m for a deal ‘completed’ three years ago.

Bayern Munich are also waiting on a balance of €20m for the €45m deal that took Lewandowski to Barca, while Sevilla are yet to receive the remaining €24.5m from Kounde’s €50m move.

There are several other pending transfer fees that Barca have yet to settle, and some date back four years or more.

They owe Manchester City €13.3m for Ferran Torres and €8m to Real Betis for Emerson Royal, who joined the Catalans four years ago and has since played for Tottenham Hotspur, AC Milan and Flamengo.

There are also smaller add-ons-related payments worth around €6m owed to clubs in Poland and Germany linked to Lewandowski’s move.

Even the minor amounts add up, with Barcelona still owing more than a million Euros to Girona, Valencia, Stade Rennais and Sporting CP.

The Sporting fee is linked to Raphinha’s transfer through FIFA’s solidarity mechanism.

Barca have been trying to improve their financial position over the past few years and have made notable progress by cutting costs and expanding their revenue streams.

However, their total debt to sporting entities has increased compared to the previous financial year, suggesting their financial hangover from years of splurging is far from over.

On the flip side, Barca are also waiting on a few payments from other clubs. The report claims that they’re expecting around €64.1m from other clubs, up from €35.9m last year.

Hansi Flick’s side are looking to defend their La Liga crown and will host Girona after the international break.
