Manchester United have no plans to sack Ruben Amorim

Ruben Amorim’s future at Manchester United has been the subject of speculation following the club’s poor start to the new season.

The Red Devils are out of the League Cup after losing to Grimsby Town, while they are languishing in 14th in the Premier League with two wins from six matches.

United face Sunderland at Old Trafford on Saturday, and a defeat could spell the end of Amorim’s reign.

However, The Athletic’s David Ornstein claims the club are not planning to sack the Portuguese. He also dismissed suggestions that Amorim will walk away from the role.

The former Sporting CP boss took over from Erik ten Hag midway through the 2024-25 season. He failed to make an immediate impact at Old Trafford, as the club finished 15th in the Premier League.

Amorim guided his side to the Europa League final last season, where they eventually lost to Tottenham Hotspur.

The club stuck with the 40-year-old, realising he needed time and a full pre-season to implement his ideas.

But despite being backed with a summer investment of over £200 million, United have not improved.

They have collected just seven points from six league matches, scoring seven goals and conceding eleven.

Amorim worked wonders at Sporting, but his system is not working in the Premier League. Despite this, he is unwilling to adapt or change his tactics
