Palhinha says Wolves draw feels like defeat for Spurs

Joao Palhinha admitted Tottenham Hotspur’s 1-1 draw with Wolverhampton Wanderers felt like a loss after his late strike salvaged a point tonight.

Thomas Frank’s side went into the match hoping to return to winning ways in the league after drawing 2-2 in their previous Premier League outing.

The visitors took the lead in the 54th minute when Santiago Bueno struck to put Wolves ahead. Palhinha levelled the game with a late goal to rescue Spurs.

Midfielder unhappy with the result

Speaking to Sky Sports after the match, Palhinha was clear about his disappointment and stressed that these are matches Tottenham should be winning.

“I am not happy at all to be honest,” he said. “Those are the games we need to win, especially when we play at home.

“We did a great first half, but we could have created more chances. When you are losing 1-0 to these kinds of teams, we need to push on the pitch.

“It is not going to be easy, we knew it. Of course, I am really sad. This result is mandatory for us in these games. It is a draw that feels like a loss.

Despite the frustration, Tottenham’s return of 11 points from their first six league matches keeps them in touch with the top places.

Spurs will now switch focus to the Champions League, where they face Norwegian champions Bodo/Glimt in their next group stage fixture.

Frank’s team began their Champions League campaign with a 1-0 victory over Villarreal.
