Bayern Munich continued their unstoppable run with a 4-0 victory over Werder Bremen in the Bundesliga last night.
While Harry Kane grabbed the headlines after becoming the fastest player in history to reach a century of goals with his brace, Tom Bischof also delivered a notable performance.
The 20-year-old started ahead of Joshua Kimmich in midfield alongside Leon Goretzka, and his sensational display showed that Bayern pulled off a masterstroke with his free transfer this summer.
The German prodigy, who made his senior international debut earlier this summer, turned heads with his extraordinary vision, passing range and ball progression.
He dictated the tempo efficiently, recording 77 passes with a 92 percent accuracy, including eight passes into the final third.
Bischof’s technical quality made him tough to press against, and he also stood out defensively with his incredible anticipation. He won back possession seven times and made two interceptions.
He rounded off a fantastic display with an assist for Konrad Laimer.
The former Hoffenheim star has demonstrated that he is capable of becoming a top midfielder and an integral part of the club’s long-term future.
His latest performance could be the springboard to earn a prominent role under manager Vincent Kompany this season.
Bischof’s emergence will now increase the competition in the midfield, especially for Aleksandar Pavlovic, who remained on the bench against Werder.
The Bavarians have won all six of their games this season and will face Pafos in the Champions League next week.
Bischof will be looking to carry on his momentum and make yet another impact against the Cypriot underdogs.
