Nottingham Forest step up talks for Sevilla’s Carmona

Nottingham Forest are pushing ahead in their bid to sign Sevilla defender Jose Angel Carmona, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.

The Spanish full-back has emerged as a key target as Forest look to add depth to their squad.

They are preparing for a busy season, with Europa League football now on their schedule.

The club have already made notable additions, including the signing of French striker Arnaud Kalimuendo earlier this summer.

Strengthening the defence has become a top priority, and Carmona is considered a long-term investment for the squad.

Forest keen to sign a new full-back

Ola Aina impressed during the 2024/25 season, leading to him extending his stay with the club.

Despite his excellent form, Forest are keen to increase their defensive options, and Carmona is not the only player on their radar.

The Midlands club are also exploring the possibility of bringing back Matty Cash from Aston Villa.

They reportedly had a bid turned down for Manchester City youngster Rico Lewis.

The versatile Sevilla player is known for his strong passing ability, particularly with short and long-range distribution.

However, his aggressive style has also drawn attention, as he can be prone to conceding fouls. This trait has not discouraged Forest.

Forest’s interest in Carmona highlights their intent to prepare for the challenges of competing across several competitions this season.

Signing versatile players could prove vital in helping them cope with the demanding schedule.
