Nottingham Forest have added RB Salzburg midfielder Mads Bidstrup to their summer transfer wishlist, according to journalist Florian Plettenberg.
Having signed Swiss winger Dan Ndoye from Bologna for €40 million, Forest have turned their attention towards midfield reinforcements.
They are looking to add depth to an already solid midfield line-up, featuring Morgan Gibbs-White, Elliot Anderson, Ibrahim Sangare and Nicolas Dominguez.
Bidstrup has caught the Reds’ attention after showing impressive consistency at Salzburg.
Following a disappointing spell at Brentford, the Danish international has found his feet with the Austrian giants, establishing himself as one of the prominent members of the squad.
The 24-year-old featured in 44 games in all competitions last season, helping Salzburg finish second in the Austrian Bundesliga. He also featured in the 2025 Club World Cup.
Bidstrup has already led Salzburg to the third round of the Champions League qualifiers, where they will face Club Brugge.
The Leipzig youth product operates as a central midfielder or in a deeper role, exhibiting a wider passing range and defensive skills.
Nuno prefers a physical profile in his system, and Bidstrup’s solid defensive numbers make him a perfect fit for Forest.
The Danish international has a contract running until 2028, but Salzburg are open to selling him for an appropriate offer.
Bidstrup has a great opportunity to redeem himself in the Premier League for his forgettable spell at Brentford, although he would have to fight for his place in a stacked Forest squad.
The Tricky Trees are keeping tabs on Manchester City midfielder James McAtee, who is rated at £30m.
AC Milan’s Yunus Musah is also on the list, but Forest face competition from Napoli for his signing.
Forest have completed the signings of Ndoye, Jair Cunha and Igor Jesus this summer.
