Chelsea winger Tyrique George is expected to leave the club this summer in search of regular first-team football.
RB Leipzig and Borussia Monchengladbach are both keen on the 19-year-old.
George made 26 senior appearances for Chelsea last season, bagging three goals and five assists across all competitions. He also featured in every match except the final in the Europa Conference League.
Despite his breakthrough year, George has slipped down the pecking order. Chelsea signed multiple wide options this summer, including Joao Pedro, Liam Delap and Jamie Gittens.
Cole Palmer and Pedro Neto are already key figures under manager Enzo Maresca.
According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, George has informed Chelsea of his intention to leave in search of more consistent game time.
A permanent move has not been ruled out, though Chelsea are open to a loan and would prefer to retain the player long-term.
Leipzig are among the clubs that have expressed concrete interest. They raised George’s name during separate talks with Chelsea over a potential deal for Dutch international Xavi Simons.
While the two discussions are unrelated in structure, there is growing speculation that Leipzig’s interest in George could act as a softener in negotiations for Simons, who is pushing for a move to Stamford Bridge.
Simons was left out of Leipzig’s squad for a recent pre-season friendly and has removed all references to the club from his social media profiles.
Chelsea are now in advanced talks for the 22-year-old, who has declined to extend his current contract and is expected to leave this summer.
Chelsea view the Bundesliga as an ideal proving ground for young talent, and Leipzig have a strong track record of developing English players.
The club believes a loan to Germany could help accelerate George’s development while retaining his long-term potential.
Chelsea are expected to allow George to pursue an opportunity abroad – one that could ultimately smooth the path for Simons to make the reverse journey.
