Alexander Isak training alone at Real Sociedad as exit rumours continue

Alexander Isak has opted to train individually at Real Sociedad’s facilities as speculation about his Newcastle United future gathers pace.

The striker, who joined the Magpies from Sociedad for £63 million in 2022, was left out of the club’s pre-season tour of Singapore due to what was described as a minor thigh injury.

However, his decision to undergo his rehabilitation at his former club has drawn attention, especially given the growing transfer rumours surrounding him.

Newcastle are aware of the arrangement, which involves Isak working with personal staff when Sociedad’s training facilities are available.

Isak is reportedly open to a move if the opportunity arises. Newcastle have made it clear they are under no pressure to sell and value him at around £150 million.

The striker has three years remaining on his contract and remains an important part of the club’s plans after an impressive 2024/25 campaign.

He has scored 62 goals across all competitions since arriving and played a key role in helping the club lift the Carabao Cup and qualify for the Champions League.

Isak is keen to challenge for major honours, and Newcastle’s transfer activity this summer has yet to convince him of the club’s immediate trajectory.

Liverpool, despite signing Hugo Ekitike earlier in the window, is monitoring Isak’s situation closely.

If a move materialises, Newcastle are expected to pursue RB Leipzig forward Benjamin Sesko, who is valued at around £70m

Isak’s absence from the first-team group is fuelling further questions about whether he will still be at St James’ Park when the season begins.
