Aston Villa are preparing to offer Morgan Rogers a new contract as they look to fend off growing interest from rival Premier League clubs, particularly Chelsea.
Talks are understood to be at an early stage, but Villa have made their intentions clear.
The winger enjoyed a breakout 2024–25 season, contributing eight goals and 11 assists in the Premier League and earning his first senior England cap.
That form has not gone unnoticed, with Chelsea reportedly eyeing an ambitious move to bring him to Stamford Bridge this summer.
Chelsea are exploring the possibility of a player-plus-cash offer for Rogers.
The proposed deal could include Tosin Adarabioyo and Nicolas Jackson heading the other way, as the Blues seek to tempt Villa with immediate first-team assets in return for one of their standout performers.
However, Villa have no intention of selling. Manager Unai Emery views Rogers as a central part of the club’s future. Villa are moving to reflect that status with improved terms.
Chelsea’s interest comes in the midst of a summer rebuild under manager Enzo Maresca.
While their players have only just returned from holidays following Club World Cup success, the recruitment department has been active, looking to add depth ahead of the new campaign.
Despite Rogers’ long-term contract, Villa’s proactive stance indicates the level of concern about losing such a prized asset to a domestic rival.
By seeking to extend and possibly enhance his deal less than a year after his last renewal, Villa are sending a message to suitors that they have no intention of engaging in talks.
