Newcastle United are considering a move for Brentford forward Yoane Wissa as they step away from their pursuit of Hugo Ekitike.
The Athletic claims Magpies are monitoring the 28-year-old after withdrawing their interest in the Eintracht Frankfurt striker.
While no formal contact has been made with Brentford yet, Newcastle are expected to start talks over a potential transfer.
Wissa has been a standout figure for Brentford in recent seasons, playing a major role in their attack alongside Bryan Mbeumo.
His current contract expires in June 2026, but Brentford have the option to extend it by another year.
Wissa would be a useful option for Newcastle

Wissa scored 19 non-penalty goals in 35 league matches last season, the highest among players in that category across the Premier League.
Known for his energy, strength and ability to stretch defences, the Brentford star is a natural fit for manager Eddie Howe’s fast-paced style.
His intelligent movement and sharp pressing ability have made him a vital part of Brentford’s forward set-up since joining the club.
Wissa possesses quick feet and is comfortable finishing with either foot, making him a constant threat in and around the box.
Newcastle have been searching for a second striker to support Alexander Isak, and Wissa’s skill set ticks many of the boxes they are looking for.
The Magpies previously submitted a £69 million offer for Hugo Ekitike, but Frankfurt turned it down.
Wissa’s Premier League experience and proven goalscoring record are huge positives as Newcastle aim to strengthen their frontline.
