AC Milan make contact with Monaco striker Breel Embolo

AC Milan have established contact with AS Monaco striker Breel Embolo about a summer move (h/t Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio).

Manager Massimiliano Allegri is prioritising a new centre-forward as part of a summer overhaul.

They have parted ways with Tammy Abraham and Luka Jovic. Noah Okafor and Alvaro Morata could follow suit, as they are not in the club’s plans.

The Rossoneri want the incoming striker to provide competition for Santiago Gimenez, who has failed to impress since his move from Feyenoord.

Embolo is the latest player on Milan’s wishlist, and he could be available for a reasonable price with his contract expiring next summer.

The Ligue 1 giants value him at around €20 million, but the Rossoneri could look to take advantage of his contractual situation and negotiate the fee.

The Swiss striker has established himself as a key member of Monaco’s team since his transfer from Borussia Monchengladbach in 2022.

The 28-year-old bagged seven goals and nine assists last season, helping the Principality Club qualify for the Champions League.

He is also a regular for the Swiss national team, scoring in back-to-back friendlies against Mexico and the United States last month.

Embolo is a traditional target man and excellent with his link-up play. He isn’t an elite-level player, but would be a solid squad option for Milan.

The Rossoneri have also shortlisted Crystal Palace’s Jean-Philippe Mateta, Chelsea’s Nicolas Jackson and Juventus’ Dusan Vlahovic as potential striker targets.
