Newly promoted Saudi Pro League club Neom SC are looking to make a bold move for Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Granit Xhaka, according to journalist Sacha Tavolieri.
Having already signed Alexander Lacazette, Neom are keen to reunite him with his former Arsenal teammate in Saudi Arabia.
Xhaka played a major role in Bayer Leverkusen’s remarkable unbeaten title-winning season in the Bundesliga during the 2023/24 campaign.
His leadership and consistency in midfield helped Xabi Alonso’s side dominate German football and claim their first-ever Bundesliga title.
Neom contact Xhaka’s representatives

Neom SC have sent an official letter of interest to the Swiss midfielder’s representatives. The document outlines the club’s intention to sign him this summer.
Direct talks have taken place as Neom explore the possibility of completing a deal in the coming weeks.
They believe Xhaka’s experience and leadership could be vital in their quest to establish themselves in the Saudi Pro League.
AC Milan are also monitoring Xhaka’s situation. They want to strengthen their midfield with a player who brings a strong mentality and tactical awareness to the squad.
Xhaka is renowned for his intelligent passing, positional awareness and tough tackling. He can play in different roles, whether deeper in midfield or more advanced.
His versatility enables him to control the pace of the game and seamlessly link defence with attack.
Whether used as a playmaker or a box-to-box option, Xhaka’s presence often brings structure and calmness to the midfield.
If Neom succeed in bringing him to the Middle East, it would be a major boost for their squad and a statement of intent for the season ahead.
