Juventus plot move for Stuttgart defender Jeff Chabot

Juventus are preparing an offer for Stuttgart defender Jeff Chabot ahead of a potential move this summer (La Gazzetta dello Sport).

A centre-back is one of the priorities for Juve in this transfer window, with Lloyd Kelly on his way out of the Allianz Stadium.

While Gleison Bremer is nearing a return to action after a long-term injury, manager Igor Tudor wants to sign a top-quality central defender to pair with the Brazilian.

Marseille’s Leonardo Balerdi is the main target for the Croatian, having worked with him at the French club. But the chances of a transfer are dwindling as the Ligue 1 giants want to keep him.

Juventus have turned their attention towards Chabot, who they tried to sign in January.

The 27-year-old caught the eye after an impressive debut season at Stuttgart, playing a key role in the DFB-Pokal title win.

He featured in 45 games in all competitions and produced some strong performances in the Champions League, including the stunning victory over Juventus in the group stage.

The German defender has a contract running until 2028, and Stuttgart value him at around €20 million. His salary also aligns with Juve’s expectations.

A sturdy defender with a taller stature, Chabot excels in aerial duels and physical battles, making things hard for the opposition forwards.

Tudor favours physical defenders in his system, and Chabot fits the bill.

The club are working on reinforcements in other areas in a bid to assemble a strong squad heading into the new season.

They are accelerating their efforts to sign Francesco Conceicao permanently from Porto, while Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho is another target.

Juve are also exploring a move for Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Andre as a potential replacement for Douglas Luiz.
