Olympique Marseille eyeing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang reunion

Olympique Marseille have made contact with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as they explore the possibility of bringing him back to the club, according to Foot Mercato.

The Gabonese striker, who enjoyed a prolific stint with Marseille in the 2023/24 season, is set to become a free agent.

Aubameyang bagged 30 goals and 11 assists across all competitions and helped the club reach the Europa League semi-finals.

The striker’s performances quickly made him a fan favourite, and his departure to Al-Qadsiah was met with disappointment by supporters last summer.

Aubameyang is now set to leave Al-Qadsiah by mutual consent, with the club seeking a younger profile to lead the line.

Both parties have agreed to part ways, making Aubameyang available on a free transfer.

The Marseille hierarchy are reportedly in discussions with Aubameyang’s representatives regarding a potential reunion.

The prospect of bringing back a proven goalscorer who is familiar with the club and Ligue 1 is appealing as Marseille strive to strengthen their attacking options for the new season.

Roberto De Zerbi’s side finished second in Ligue 1 last season, earning a return to the Champions League for the first time since the 2022/23 edition.

Les Minots have already brought in Neal Maupay and Jonathan Rowe this summer, but are keen to bring in further offensive reinforcements.
