Chelsea players using Instagram to boost Club World Cup ticket sales ahead of Fluminense clash

Chelsea are gearing up for a massive Club World Cup semi-final clash against Brazilian side Fluminense later this evening.

The Telegraph claims the players are also trying to help fill the stands in the build-up to the mouth-watering encounter.

They are using Instagram to drive last-minute ticket sales ahead of the game at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.

There are growing concerns about the number of empty seats expected in one of the biggest stadiums in the United States. 

The MetLife Stadium can house 82,500 fans, but the demand for tickets doesn’t reflect the weight of the clash on the horizon.

Since the Club World Cup started, ticket sales have been a major talking point, with fans barely showing interest in the competition.

Some of the biggest venues in the country have struggled to draw large crowds, and FIFA have been forced to slash ticket prices in an attempt to boost attendance.

Drumming up interest in tonight’s contest has been particularly challenging, considering the game is set to take place during working hours in the US.

FIFA are concerned that turnout from local fans would be massively underwhelming. While Fluminense’s Brazilian supporters are expected to show up in their numbers, Chelsea’s end may not stack up.

That has forced the club to ask their players to use their massive social media accounts to encourage fans to attend the game.

Chelsea vice-captain Enzo Fernandez shared a match graphic with a direct link to purchase tickets to his 11.6 million Instagram followers. 

Nicolas Jackson, Moises Caicedo, Robert Sanchez and Joao Pedro have all done the same, urging fans to buy tickets through FIFA’s official platform.

Cole Palmer and Noni Madueke have opted against advertising the ticket link on their page.

Chelsea defeated Palmeiras to reach the last four. If they get past Fluminense, they’ll face either Paris Saint-Germain or Real Madrid in the final.
