Davide Frattesi’s time at Inter Milan is drawing to a close, and Napoli are leading the race to sign him (h/t journalist Sacha Tavolieri).
The Italian midfielder’s future has been up in the air for a while after growing unhappy over his lack of opportunities.
Frattesi largely played second fiddle in Inter’s midfield in former manager Simone Inzaghi’s reign.
The 25-year-old made only 13 starts last season, but scored crucial goals in the Champions League quarter-finals and semi-finals against Bayern Munich and Barcelona.
Inter’s new manager Cristian Chivu is willing to breathe new life into Frattesi’s career, but the midfielder wants a fresh start elsewhere.
Manchester United and Atletico Madrid have been credited as suitors, but the Azzurri international intends to stay in Serie A.
Scudetto winners Napoli are in pole position to sign Frattesi, with manager Antonio Conte an admirer of his ability.
Having already signed Kevin De Bruyne on a free transfer, the Partenopei need to work on sales before proceeding with a move for Frattesi.
Inter will not listen to any offers less than €35 million for the Italian midfielder.
The Nerazzurri could also lose midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu, who is wanted by Turkish giants Galatasaray.
The Turkish captain is ready for a new chapter in his career, and Inter are looking for €40m to part ways with him.
Inter have lined up Lazio’s Nicolo Rovella as a replacement for Calhanoglu, but they have no intention of selling him.
As for Napoli, they are planning to sell Frank Anguissa to generate funds, with Besiktas showing interest in him.
The Serie A champions are also working on a deal to sign Udinese striker Lorenzo Lucca, having reached a verbal agreement with him.
