Marseille table offer for West Ham defender Nayef Aguerd

Marseille have submitted an offer to sign West Ham United defender Nayef Aguerd this summer (h/t Foot Mercato).

Having qualified for the Champions League next season, Marseille are planning to add more reinforcements in the transfer window to build a strong squad.

Aguerd joined the Hammers in 2022 from Rennes on the back of a stellar World Cup tournament in Qatar, where Morocco reached the semi-finals.

However, the Moroccan centre-back struggled for game time with West Ham. prompting a season-long loan move to Real Sociedad last summer.

The 29-year-old has become a regular for Sociedad this season, featuring in 36 games in all competitions.

The Basque club are considering a permanent move for Aguerd, who has a contract with Hammers until June 2027.

Atletico Madrid and Bayer Leverkusen are also monitoring the former Rennes star. However, he wants to join Marseille after being convinced by De Zerbi’s project.

Marseille have also identified Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Nelson Semedo as a potential target on a free transfer.

The Ligue 1 giants are inching closer towards signing LOSC Lille midfielder Angel Gomes on a free transfer.

They have reached an agreement in principle with the former Manchester United star on a three-year deal after beating West Ham and Tottenham Hotspur in the transfer race.

The French giants are scouring the market for offensive reinforcements, with Nantes striker Matthis Abline and Crystal Palace’s Jean-Philippe Mateta among their top targets.
