Arsenal are stepping up their pursuit of Slovenian striker Benjamin Sesko, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.
Discussions are progressing positively between Arsenal, RB Leipzig and his representatives.
While no agreement is imminent or expected to be finalised this weekend, the Gunners are pushing hard to land one of Europe’s most sought-after young forwards.
Sesko has emerged as a key target for Arsenal, with manager Mikel Arteta eager to add a dynamic striker to give the team a lethal attacking option.
Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz failed to deliver this season, and the Gunners need an upgrade.
Sesko bagged 13 goals and five assists in 31 Bundesliga appearances this season. He finished the campaign with 21 goals in 46 appearances across all competitions.
While he is not yet among the most prolific strikers in Europe, many people believe Sesko is on the cusp of a breakthrough.
His blend of pace, power and intelligent movement has attracted interest from several top clubs, who view the 21-year-old as a future elite-level forward.
Sesko’s release clause is reportedly above €80 million, but clubs may not need to activate it if they settle on structured payments.
Arsenal are reportedly negotiating around this flexibility, as they want to spread the financial impact of a deal.
There are still questions about whether Sesko is ready to lead the line for a Premier League club. However, Arsenal seem confident in his development path.
Elsewhere, the Gunners have reportedly made Real Madrid attacker Rodrygo a top target as they look to bolster their front line in their bid to end their silverware drought.
