Manchester City are closing in on the signing of Paris Saint-Germain forward Mahamadou Sangare on a free transfer.
The 18-year-old is expected to undergo a medical this week before signing a long-term contract with the Premier League champions.
Sangare has decided to leave PSG upon the expiration of his contract this summer, having failed to make a senior appearance for the club.
Despite not featuring for the first team, the French youth international has caught the eye with a prolific campaign at youth level.
He scored 33 goals in 35 matches for PSG’s Under-19s last season and added eight goals and two assists in six UEFA Youth League games.
Man City have made a concerted effort to recruit and develop young talent in recent years, and Sangare looks set to be the latest addition to that strategy.
Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano claims the move is all but confirmed, with the forward ready to finalise his switch to Manchester.
Sangare began training with PSG’s senior squad in December but remained behind a host of other emerging talents in the pecking order.
He is regarded as one of PSG’s most promising youth products but has opted for a fresh start elsewhere in search of senior opportunities.
He is likely to begin with City’s youth or development sides, although his scoring record suggests long-term first-team potential.
His playing style is defined by strong movement in the box, a consistent goal threat and an instinctive ability to find space in attacking areas.
City’s academy set-up has become an increasingly attractive destination for top prospects across Europe, with the club investing heavily in future stars.
Sangare’s move follows similar pathways taken by other youngsters who have left top continental clubs in search of more structured development environments.
Sangare’s arrival adds to the depth of talent available at youth level and represents another calculated addition to City’s long-term squad planning.
The deal is expected to be finalised in the coming days, with all signs pointing to the striker’s imminent arrival in Manchester.
