Barcelona want Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford or Liverpool star Luis Diaz in the summer transfer window.
However, according to SPORT, they also have Bayern Munich ace Kingsley Coman and Arsenal’s Gabriel Martinelli on their radar if those deals fall through.
Barcelona are still in a financially tight situation. The Catalans do not have the funds to sign Rashford for £40 million. They would rather do a loan deal with an option to buy.
The same goes for Diaz. Liverpool would demand north of £60 million, leaving Barca to consider approaching Coman or Martinelli.
Coman is in the final two years of his contract and would notably cost less than Rashford and Diaz. The Frenchman is an electric winger, although his injury record will worry any potential suitors.
However, his numbers are underwhelming. Coman registered seven goals and four assists in 41 appearances this season. He does not move the needle for the La Liga champions.
Martinelli, who exploded last season but disappointed this term as Arsenal once again failed to clinch the Premier League title, is in the same boat.
The Brazilian struggles for consistency, and his numbers are not eye-popping. All signs point back to Rashford for Barca.
Rashford is an elite forward. He is rapid, intelligent and ruthless in front of goal.
The 27-year-old would instantly push Raphinha for a starting berth and provide a credible alternative at striker, where Barcelona still lack a definitive heir to Robert Lewandowski.
The Man Utd star is direct and explosive in transition. He is technically sharp enough to combine in tight spaces.
Barcelona’s financial limitations are real. But this is the kind of opportunity the club must bend over backwards to seize.
