Real Madrid have reached an agreement to sign Dean Huijsen from Bournemouth, according to Marca.
The Spanish giants will trigger the 20-year-old’s £50 million release clause, to be paid in three instalments.
Huijsen’s former club Juventus will receive 10 percent of the capital gain from the deal, while Malaga will pocket around £1.5 million via the solidarity mechanism, having been responsible for his development.
The defender is expected to be registered in time for the Club World Cup in the United States, which begins in June.
Madrid are accelerating the signing to bolster their defensive options ahead of the tournament following a season blighted by injuries in central defence.
Antonio Rudiger, David Alaba and Eder Militao have all suffered long-term injuries, leaving the club with limited options at the back.
Huijsen is viewed as a rare solution – young, reliable and already delivering at a high level.
The defender has made 30 Premier League appearances for Bournemouth this season and scored three goals.
Despite early concerns over his physical condition, Madrid have been impressed by his performances in England.
A two-footed and progressive centre-back, Huijsen’s composure and ball-playing ability have stood out under Andoni Iraola’s high-tempo system.
He earned his first senior Spain call-up in March and has now made two international appearances, having previously represented the Netherlands at youth level.
Chelsea had been close to signing him, but Madrid’s interest changed the trajectory of the deal.
The player and his family had visited Valdebebas in 2021 before he joined Juventus, but the move fell through at the time.
Huijsen had numerous offers, but was drawn by the opportunity to play for one of Spain’s biggest clubs – a goal he had envisioned since his time at Malaga.
While no announcement will be made until the documents are signed and finalised, all indications suggest the deal is effectively complete.
If confirmed, Huijsen would become Madrid’s latest major addition, arriving at a time when the club is reshaping its defensive line for the long term.
