Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford has travelled to Dubai to begin the first phase of his recovery from a hamstring injury.
According to the BBC, he hopes to regain fitness before England’s fixtures in June.
The 66-cap England international picked up a serious muscular injury that could sideline him for the rest of the domestic season.
Rashford is undergoing a warm-weather rehabilitation programme in the United Arab Emirates to accelerate his return to the pitch.
The 27-year-old is on loan at Aston Villa. However, he has likely made his last appearance for the Villains, as he is expected to miss the rest of the season.
There is a very slim possibility he could return before the season concludes. Villa are pushing for a European spot and won’t mind having him in their final matches.
Rashford has his sights set on England’s upcoming fixtures. The Three Lions have a World Cup qualifier against Andorra on June 7 and a friendly against Senegal three days later at Wembley Stadium.
After falling out of favour under former manager Gareth Southgate, Rashford was given a fresh opportunity by new England boss Thomas Tuchel.
The German tactician started him in his first two games in charge against Latvia and Albania.
However, Rashford did not particularly impress in his first outings since November 2023.
He did not have his usual sharpness and cutting edge. He made little impact, raising doubts about his role moving forward.
With stiff competition for places and Tuchel eager to reshape the squad with in-form, hungry talent, Rashford faces a tough challenge to earn another call-up.
Unless he recovers quickly and impresses Tuchel, his presence in the squad in June is not guaranteed.
