According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United forward Amad Diallo will return to full training next week.
His return gives Man Utd a timely boost as they chase Europa League glory. The Red Devils have a pivotal semi-final showdown with Athletic Club.
The 22-year-old has been out of action since February after picking up an ankle injury in training ahead of United’s clash with Tottenham Hotspur.
There were initial fears Diallo would miss the remainder of the season. However, his recovery has progressed better than expected.
United manager Ruben Amorim provided an upbeat update earlier this month, revealing Diallo was responding well to treatment.
The club later shared images of the Ivorian winger in the gym at Carrington. Diallo confirmed he was back doing light work on the grass days later.
United are pushing for European silverware and a route back into the Champions League, making Diallo’s return all the more crucial.
He had been in electric form before his injury, registering nine goals and eight assists in 39 appearances across all competitions.
The former Atalanta star was arguably United’s most consistent performer in the first half of the season.
Diallo will likely not be fit in time for the first leg of the Europa League semi-final against Athletic at the Estadio de San Mames on May 1.
However, Diallo might be able to feature on the bench in the decisive second leg at Old Trafford seven days later.
His return could provide the attacking spark United need in the final stretch of the season, especially with Joshua Zirkzee out until next term and Rasmus Hojlund still misfiring.
United will also be without Lisandro Martinez for the rest of the season due to an anterior cruciate ligament injury.
Matthijs de Ligt may be unavailable for the first leg after missing training, while Ayden Heaven is also out with a short-term issue.
Toby Collyer could return for the second leg. His injury is not considered serious.
