Trent Alexander-Arnold may not have played his last game for Liverpool ahead of a mooted summer move to Real Madrid.
Sky Sports claims the 26-year-old has returned to team training at the AXA Training Centre ahead of this weekend’s Premier League clash against Leicester City.
Alexander-Arnold has been absent for a little over five weeks courtesy of an ankle problem he picked up in the gut-wrenching Champions League exit against Paris Saint-Germain.
However, after linking up with his teammates on Wednesday, Liverpool hope he will play at least one more time before jetting off to Spain.
Alexander-Arnold’s return comes amid increasing speculation surrounding his move to Madrid.
He seems to have had his head turned by the prospect of playing for Los Blancos, but moving as a free agent hasn’t gone down well with fans of his boyhood club.
Nevertheless, it appears to be a matter of when rather than if, although the Liverpool faithful will take solace knowing Mohamed Salah and Virgil Van Dijk have pledged their allegiances to the club.
Despite the noise about his future, Alexander-Arnold will be more focused on helping his soon-to-be former employers wrap up the Premier League title in the coming weeks.
Liverpool are two wins away from their second league win in five years, but it could be confirmed this weekend if other results go their way.
Alexander-Arnold’s return means Arne Slot is now working with an almost full-strength squad.
Joe Gomez is the only outlier as he continues his recovery from a hamstring surgery.
There’s more good news for Liverpool on the injury front, with Darwin Nunez also back in the fold.
He missed the 2-1 win against West Ham United due to illness but is back in time to face Leicester at the King Power Stadium.
