Jurgen Klopp is eyeing the Real Madrid job as frustrations mount behind the scenes at Red Bull, where he currently serves as global football director.
According to UOL, the former Liverpool boss has confided to close associates that he would consider stepping away from his Red Bull role for two destinations – Real Madrid or the Brazilian national team.
While no formal approach has been made by either, sources suggest Klopp is unhappy within the Austrian group.
Klopp joined Red Bull after stepping down from Liverpool in 2024, ending nine years of success at Anfield.
Despite earning between €12–14 million annually in his new position, the German is reportedly restless and missing the day-to-day involvement of top-level football management.
Meanwhile, pressure is mounting on current Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti. He is under contract until June 2026 but could face the sack before the expanded Club World Cup this summer.
Their performances in big games have not been up to scratch, leading to speculation that Ancelotti cou;d exit the club.
Bayer Leverkusen boss Xabi Alonso is their first-choice replacement, but if Klopp enters the frame, it might cause Madrid to rethink.
Elsewhere, the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) is actively looking for a replacement for the underwhelming Dorival Junior.
They have been quietly considering options such as Ancelotti and Jorge Jesus, but have not approached Klopp.
Klopp would reportedly only re-enter club football for a project with prestige and purpose. Madrid ticks both boxes.
While no moves are imminent, Klopp’s name is beginning to circle the Santiago Bernabeu boardroom. He is also not denying the interest.
