Five-time World Cup winners Brazil have struggled to live up to expectations in recent years.
The Selecao crashed out of the 2022 World Cup in the quarter-finals against Croatia. They suffered the same fate at the 2024 Copa America, losing to Colombia at the same stage.
Despite appointing several managers to revive their fortunes, the team has continued to struggle.
Dorival Junior was the latest to take charge, but a series of poor results, including a humiliating 4-1 defeat to Argentina, left Brazil fourth in the World Cup qualifiers.
The Brazilian Football Federation has decided to part ways with the 62-year-old coach. They must find the right replacement to restore the team’s dominance.

Five Potential Candidates to Manage Brazil
Carlo Ancelotti
The Real Madrid manager has been heavily linked with the job. Ancelotti’s strong connection with the Brazilian Football Federation makes him a top choice.
He is one of the most decorated coaches in football history, winning five Champions League titles and multiple domestic trophies.
Ancelotti was named FIFA Coach of the Year in 2024, further proving his credentials.
Jose Mourinho
Mourinho – also known as ‘The Special One’ – has an impressive record in club football.
He has won two Champions League titles and numerous domestic trophies while managing top European clubs.
The Fenerbache possesses the experience and mentality to transform the Selecao and has previously expressed his desire to lead the Brazilian national team.

Filipe Luis
The former Chelsea and Atletico Madrid defender is also in contention. Despite his young coaching career, he has already achieved notable success.
Luis began coaching Flamengo’s Under-17 team in January 2024 before taking charge of the Under-20 squad in June. Within a month, he guided them to victory in the Under-20 Intercontinental Cup.
He was appointed interim manager of Flamengo’s first team after Tite’s departure last September. He later secured the role permanently and has led the club to three trophies.
Jorge Jesus
Jorge Jesus, the current Al-Hilal manager, has a successful track record in Brazilian football.
He won the Copa Libertadores with Flamengo in 2019, establishing himself as a respected figure in South America.
The Brazilian Football Federation sees him as a strong back-up option if Ancelotti does not take the job.
Abel Ferreira
The Palmeiras manager is another candidate for the role. Ferreira won back-to-back Copa Libertadores titles in 2020 and 2021, proving his ability on the international stage.
He has also won several domestic trophies with Palmeiras and led them to the 2021 Club World Cup final, where they finished runners-up.
