Real Madrid could consider reinforcing their defence in the upcoming summer transfer window.
Injuries have plagued Madrid’s backline this season, leaving manager Carlo Ancelotti with fewer options to rely on.
David Alaba returned to action only in January after spending a year on the sidelines with a knee injury.
Dani Carvajal and Eder Militao also have missed a large part of this season with long-term injuries.
Ancelotti has fixed the issues by deploying Aurelien Tchouameni as a makeshift centre-back and promoting Raul Asencio. He has quickly become an integral member of the defence.
Despite this, Los Merengues may recruit a new centre-back to add depth to their backline and have been linked with several players.
The Spanish giants are monitoring Bournemouth’s defensive sensation Dean Huijsen, who is one of the most sought-after players in Europe.
As per Marca, Madrid are impressed by the 19-year-old’s rapid growth and have decided to step up their efforts to sign him.
Huijsen has made giant strides with the Cherries this season, becoming one of the best young defenders in the Premier League.
The former Juventus youngster has also been instrumental in Andoni Iraola’s side’s push for European places.
Huijsen was also rewarded with his maiden senior team call-up from Spain this month.
He wasted no time in making his mark, producing a stellar performance against the Netherlands in the Nations League quarter-finals.

Premier League giants Liverpool and Chelsea are also monitoring Huijsen, who has a release clause worth £50 million in his contract.
However, Madrid have the edge in the transfer race as the Spanish defender reportedly dreams of playing for them.
With Antonio Rudiger and David Alaba entering the final year of their contracts, Madrid should prioritise bringing in a new top-quality centre-back.
Huijsen could thrive in Madrid’s defence and add further quality to their squad.
