Striker Rasmus Hojlund ended his 22-game goal drought during Manchester United’s 3-0 win over Leicester City at the King Power Stadium on Sunday evening.
He opened the scoring in the fixture with a precise shot after receiving a pass from Bruno Fernandes.
The Denmark international has struggled this season, scoring eight goals in 32 appearances across all competitions.
His performances appear to have affected his valuation. According to Transfermarkt, the 22-year-old is now valued at £37 million – £12m less than his previous valuation.
He is one of several Premier League players who suffered the most depreciation in Transfermarkt’s latest valuations.
However, among Man United players, only Bruno Fernandes, Kobbie Mainoo, Leny Yoro and Manuel Ugarte are worth more than him.
United will demand more than £37m for Hojlund following reports that Napoli have held exploratory talks about signing him. They reportedly want £51m.
He has three years left on his contract, and United would try to recoup as much as possible from his sale if they decide to let him go in the summer.
The Mancunian giants need proceeds from outgoing transfers to invest in their squad and will not sell players cheaply.
United could also involve him in a swap deal to get one of their transfer targets this summer.
Man United’s squad valuation has also suffered a dip due to their struggles this term.
They are now valued at £584m and rank sixth in the Premier League behind Manchester City, Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur.
The depreciation is due to the declined market values of Hojlund, Martinez, Garnacho, Andre Onana, Matthijs de Ligt, Luke Shaw, Diogo Dalot, Mason Mount and Joshua Zirkzee.
The only players whose values have increased are Amad Diallo, Toby Collyer, Patrick Dorgu and Ayden Heaven.
