Manchester United are gearing up for a crucial summer in the transfer market, and a new striker is high on the wishlist.
The club have reportedly taken significant steps towards signing Victor Osimhen, igniting excitement among the fans.
However, journalist Fabrizio Romano has poured cold water on those claims, insisting that no concrete progress has been made.
He revealed on his YouTube channel: “Despite reports in the last two or three days saying Osimhen has an agreement with Man Utd, there’s still no confirmation on this.
“United are not in advanced or concrete talks for Osimhen. They have more names on their list.
“United still don’t know how much they’ll spend on a striker, and Osimhen will not reduce his salary.”
The Red Devils are enduring a challenging season, leaving their summer transfer plans hanging in the balance.
With uncertainty looming, they won’t have a clear idea of their spending power until the season ends.
Described as ‘world-class‘ by manager Jose Mourinho, Osimhen has starred in his ongoing loan stint with Galatasaray.
The prolific striker has been in red-hot form, racking up 22 goals and five assists in just 28 appearances across all competitions.
Napoli are willing to part ways with him, but only if a club triggers his hefty £62 million release clause.
Spending such a massive sum on a single player will be challenging for United unless they offload one of their most valuable assets.
Their financial struggles have been well-documented, with the club even contemplating the sale of Alejandro Garnacho during the winter transfer window.
They need reinforcements in several key positions due to the potential departures of Casemiro, Marcus Rashford and Christian Eriksen this summer.
