Arsenal failed to add to their squad during the winter transfer window.
The Gunners were tipped to enter the transfer market for a marquee striker or winger, but they could not find anyone suitable before the deadline.
The hierarchy are now expected to spend big this summer. Tuttosport surprisingly claims Arsenal could swoop for Moise Kean.
Kean signed for Fiorentina from Juventus last summer. He has been in terrific form for La Viola, bagging 19 goals and two assists from 28 appearances.
He has a £43 million release clause, which is ‘affordable and attractive’ for Arsenal. The Gunners are reportedly tracking him with ‘great interest’.
Benjamin Sesko and Viktor Gyokeres are also on the club’s striker wishlist, but Kean could be a ‘fascinating solution’ for them.
Kean speculation could be purely agent-driven
The 24-year-old previously spent time in the Premier League with Everton after arriving from Juventus.
Kean failed to adapt to the higher intensity and physicality of English football. He scored just four goals from 39 appearances for the Merseyside outfit.
The Juventus graduate has now hit form with Fiorentina, but the big question is whether he can replicate the performances in a faster-paced league.
After his dreadful time at Everton, he may be unable to redeem himself in the Premier League.
Kean also would not suit the Gunners’ playing style under manager Mikel Arteta. He is more of a traditional number nine and lacks proper ball control.
The speculation could be agent-driven. His representative, Alessandro Lucci, also manages Riccardo Calafiori. Lucci probably wants Arsenal to consider Kean.
However, it is unlikely that the club will invest in the Italian ace, considering his failure to make a meaningful contribution during his time with the Toffees.
