Patrick Dorgu is one of just two players Manchester United signed in the winter transfer window.
He is also the eighth Danish player the club has signed, and the club’s success rate with players from there has been mixed.
Read on as we look at the previous Danish players United signed before Dorgu.
Jesper Olsen
The midfielder arrived from Ajax in 1984. He spent five seasons at the club, scoring 23 goals in 166 appearances.
He joined Bordeaux in January 1989 after a bust-up with a teammate.
John Sivebaek
Sivebaek joined United from Vejle Boldklub in 1986 and left the following year. He made 33 appearances and scored once.
His only goal was significant as it was the first scored under Sir Alex Ferguson.
Peter Schmeichel
He is the greatest Danish player to have played for the Red Devils and the best goalkeeper in the club’s history.
Schmeichel played in 398 games and won 15 trophies, including five league titles and one Champions League.
He won the Premier League Player of the Season once, a rare feat for a goalkeeper. He is an English and Premier League Hall of Famer.
Mads Timm
He joined Man United at a young age from Danish club Odense, having been snapped up for the academy but only made one senior appearance.
Timm was released by the club in 2006 after failing to establish himself in the first team. He returned to Odense.
Anders Lindegaard
The former Danish goalkeeper arrived from Norwegian club Aalesund in 2010. However, he could not nail a spot in the starting line-up at Old Trafford.
Lindegaard was part of the triumphant team that won the league in the 2012/2013 season.
He featured in 29 games before leaving for West Bromwich Albion in 2015.
Christian Eriksen
The Danish midfielder joined the club in 2022 after his six-month contract with Brentford expired.
He has not been in sparkling form for the Red Devils and is expected to leave the club in the summer.
Rasmus Hojlund
Hojlund arrived from Atalanta in 2023.
He has yet to impress since moving to Old Trafford, netting just 23 goals in 73 games.
United were forced to sign Joshua Zirkzee last summer to provide competition for him, but the Dutch striker has also struggled.
