Aston Villa’s ambitious bid to sign Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford on loan until the end of the season is undoubtedly a risky move.
However, it is one which could pay huge dividends if manager Unai Emery can work his magic and get the best out of the 27-year-old.
Rashford reportedly favours a move to Barcelona, but joining Villa would be a more sensible move for him to make.
Rashford has a point to prove after United fallout
Man United manager Ruben Amorim has made it clear that Rashford isn’t in his plans, citing the player’s questionable attitude as the reason for his stance.
Only the people on the inside at United will know for sure whether the criticism is fair or if Rashford has been badly treated by Amorim.
What is not in doubt is the fact that Rashford still has plenty of time to prove why he was touted as a superstar during the early part of his career.
From the outside looking in, he does not look to be in love with football. A move to different surroundings could be the spark he needs to rediscover his enthusiasm.
While Barcelona may be a tempting proposition for Rashford, he would be well-advised to steer clear of joining a club where the scrutiny would be off the scale.
Villa are an ambitious club with an excellent manager. They are the perfect fit for a player who desperately needs to make the right career choice.
