Cast your minds back to a time when former Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson was classified as a ‘man of the people’.
Hospital visits and support for the LGBT community were among the good deeds Henderson undertook because he’s such a nice chap.
However, his move to the Saudi Pro League (SPL) shattered those illusions. Not satisfied with damaging his reputation with that move, he’s been at it again.
Henderson’s antics leave a sour taste
Having been handed a way out of the SPL by Ajax, you would think that Henderson would be bending over backwards to repay the club.
However, the 34-year-old decided the run-up to an important Europa League game against Galatasaray was a good time to upset the applecart.
He reportedly demanded to be released from his contract 18 months early to allow him to move to Monaco – the other place on Earth that’s absolutely minted.
Henderson compounded the nonsense by relinquishing the captaincy before the game and then refusing to celebrate either of Ajax’s two goals.
Ajax have subsequently said they will not ‘under any circumstances’ sign the documents that would allow him to depart.
They should stick him in the stands for the remaining 18 months of his contract due to his flagrant unprofessionalism.
