Forest carry the hopes of the nation tonight
‘Scouse not English’. It’s a mindset that many Liverpool fans adopt, and they believe they have justifiable reasons for feeling that way.
On that basis, they’ll have no problem with the rest of us getting on board with Nottingham Forest when their team visits the City Ground tonight.
Forest have been the surprise package this season, forcing their way into contention for a top-four finish with a series of excellent performances.
However, a victory tonight would move them three points behind Liverpool and place them firmly in the title race. The Premier League needs that to happen.
These are the type of games former Forest manager Brian Clough relished in his pomp. He took great delight in turning over the so-called ‘big clubs’.
Let’s hope the two-time European champions can take inspiration from the legacy he left behind and deliver the result the rest of England craves.
