Tottenham Hotspur are one of several teams in the race to sign Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford during this winter transfer window.
Rashford has interest from clubs in the Premier League, Germany, Italy and France. Spurs reportedly held informal talks regarding a transfer move.
However, according to the Independent, he is likely to move abroad. Borussia Dortmund and AC Milan are emerging as strong candidates, forcing Tottenham to look elsewhere.
Spurs need to reconsider a player who has been on their radar for some time. He can provide a spark in attack for the next six months and perhaps be inclined to stay beyond.
Bayern Munich star Mathys Tel has been linked to Spurs since Harry Kane joined the Bundesliga club.
He was first touted as a makeweight in the Kane deal before more transfer rumours revealed concrete interest in his services.
Tottenham must turn that interest into a transfer move for the two-time Golden Boy finalist.
The 19-year-old forward is starving for game time under Vincent Kompany and will be eager to find a new stomping ground.
Tel can bolster Tottenham’s attack for six months, potentially phasing out the ineffective Timo Werner while easing the burden on Heung-min Son.
The Frenchman was one of only two teenagers to record at least 15 goals and assists in Europe’s top five leagues last season despite being second-fiddle under Thomas Tuchel.
With Wilson Odobert also battling injuries, Tottenham need to be in the market for attacking reinforcements, and Tel fits the mould of what the club desperately needs.
Bayern have a plethora of attacking options, and Tottenham should be smart to push for a six-month loan move. A loan deal is affordable and a no-brainer.
Tel can give Spurs more bite up top and is a perfect long-term replacement for Son. The France youth international is a beckoning opportunity the club cannot afford to miss.
