Manchester United can sign one of Sporting CP’s best players for a discount this winter.
The Red Devils have had an underwhelming campaign in the Premier League, and they are languishing 13th in the table with 23 points.
Despite this, there have been some positives under manager Ruben Amorim. United recently played out a 2-2 draw against Liverpool on the road.
They were the better side during the closing stages, and Harry Maguire almost scored a dramatic late winner for United at Anfield.
United have had a quiet winter transfer window, but things could change in the coming days.
Record claims that Goncalo Inacio could be on the move.
The Sporting defender has a £50.4 million release clause in his contract but could be signed for around £29.4m this winter.
Borussia Dortmund are interested in signing him, but they are not alone in the pursuit, with United and Liverpool among his admirers.
United must capitalise on the chance to sign Inacio
The 23-year-old has been long linked with a move to Old Trafford. He was first on the club’s radar when they wanted to sign a left-footed centre-back.
United opted to land Lisandro Martinez from Ajax instead, but there has continued to remain speculation that the Portuguese could move to the Red Devils.
Inacio was an undisputed starter under Amorim during their time together at Sporting. The centre-back can play anywhere in the three-man defence.
He would be a perfect fit to provide strong competition for places to Martinez in the left centre-back role. The Argentine has been inconsistent this term.
The 23-year-old is a superb ball-playing defender with an aerial presence in the box. He likes to make ball recoveries and does not shy away from initiating in tackles.
Inacio has a knack for overlapping into the opposition half regularly. He could be a realistic option to play as the left wing-back under Amorim with his ball control.
Sporting are prepared to sell Inacio for a discount of almost 42 percent. It is a huge market opportunity.
Amorim has already identified Inacio as a ‘priority target‘, and United must beat Dortmund and Liverpool in the race to sign him.
