Arsenal owner Stan Kroenke unlikely to sanction move for Newcastle United striker

Arsenal owner and chairman Stan Kroenke is extremely unlikely to sanction a move for Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak, according to the Daily Mail.

The Gunners simply cannot afford the British-record transfer fee it would take to sign him this summer, with the St James Park club asking for around £150 million from suitors.

Isak and his representatives are aware that Arsenal are keen on him, with manager Mikel Arteta a huge admirer.

Given that he has a contract with Newcastle until 2028, they are not in a rush to sell the 25-year-old and are desperate to keep him beyond the end of the season.

If they opt to listen to Arsenal or other suitors, it is expected that the British record £115m Chelsea paid for Moises Caicedo would have to be broken for a sale to happen.

The Gunners are reportedly ready to spend around £100m on a single signing in the next transfer window, with a new number nine their top target.

However, it could take significantly more than that to convince Newcastle to part with the Sweden international.

Isak has bagged 13 Premier League goals in 18 appearances this season. He has also notched two goals in four Carabao Cup games.

His tally included the opener as the Magpies ran out 2-0 winners against Arsenal in the first leg of the semi-finals of the competition on Tuesday.

The Gunners need a top-class striker to lead the line, but it appears they will be looking for other targets due to the finances involved.

RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko remains on their radar after they moved for him last summer.

Whether he will be interested in a move is unclear after he opted against joining them because he was not guaranteed a place in the starting XI.

Arsenal need to add more firepower to their attack if they are serious about becoming title winners, and they may need to break the bank to get the perfect man for the job.
