Manchester United have had a quiet winter transfer window, but there could be some activity in the coming weeks.
A new left wing-back is the top priority for manager Ruben Amorim, but a signing could coincide with a possible exit.
Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla now claims that Serie A minnows Como are interested in signing Tyrell Malacia this winter.
The Italian outfit want to bolster the left-back department for manager Cesc Fabregas, and Malacia is one of their targets.
Como have also been linked with a loan move for Marcus Rashford, but the story has no truth, as per journalist Fabrizio Romano.
Malacia could be sold if United find a replacement
The Netherlands international recently returned to first-team action after a lengthy 17-month lay-off due to multiple knee surgeries.
The 25-year-old has made a few starts under manager Ruben Amorim, but his performances have been mostly unconvincing.
The Dutchman has looked short of pace and it would be unsurprising if United consider his departure.
However, a mid-season move could depend on United landing a suitable replacement.
If that happens, the club could be prepared to sanction his sale. They may look to recoup the initial £13 million fee paid to Feyenoord.
Malacia, described as ‘dynamic‘ by United’s official website, could be a good fit in Serie A, which is less intense and more tactical.
The left-back struggled with United prior to his injury, and his loss of pace means he may not have a future in the Premier League.
Malacia started against Arsenal in the league last month, but he is unlikely to make the starting XI in Sunday’s FA Cup third-round tie versus the same opposition.
