Journalist Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Casemiro could leave Manchester United this month or in the summer.
United’s season has not gone as planned. They are languishing in the bottom half of the Premier League standings and have been knocked out of the Carabao Cup.
The Red Devils need to sign quality players this month to turn their season around, but they face financial constraints.
The club are reportedly close to Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) spending limits, meaning they must offload valuable assets before adding new players to their squad.
Casemiro is reportedly one of the players the club are open to selling, alongside Christian Eriksen and Victor Lindelof.
Eriksen and Lindelof are not in manager Ruben Amorim’s plans and have been considered disposable.
Casemiro is ready to leave Old Trafford this month. He is being courted by several Saudi Pro League (SPL) clubs, including Al-Nassr, Al-Ittihad, Al-Hilal, Al-Ahli, Al-Ettifaq and Al-Qadsiyah.
The Brazilian midfielder has seen his role diminish since the arrival of Amorim. He has often played second fiddle to Manuel Ugarte and has started just four games across all competitions.
The ‘massive’ star midfielder was given a chance to impress against Newcastle United on Monday but failed to make an impact. He was substituted in the 64th minute and replaced by Alejandro Garnacho.
Statistically, Casemiro is not United’s worst performer. He ranks second for most tackles and fourth for key passes and big chances created per game.
However, Ugarte’s signing has rendered his role less crucial. Amorim prefers Ugarte, as evidenced by his selections in recent matches.
Casemiro’s £350,000-per-week salary makes him United’s highest earner. Offloading him would significantly reduce the club’s wage bill.
The club are interested in signing Ederson from Atalanta as a potential replacement.
