Manchester United can transform their Premier League fortunes by signing one of Wolverhampton Wanderers’ best players in January.
The Red Devils have suffered a huge slump in form over the past few weeks. They are currently 14th in the table with just 22 points.
The club are seven points behind a potential Champions League spot, and they need a huge turnaround to make up ground next year.
A marquee winter signing is necessary and Wolves forward Matheus Cunha would be the perfect acquisition for the club.
The Brazil international has been a revelation for Wolves despite their league woes this campaign.
He has accumulated 10 goals and four assists in 19 appearances. He was exceptional against United in yesterday’s 2-0 league triumph.
Cunha scored straight from a corner to open the scoring for the Midlands outfit and put the game end to bed in stoppage time with an assist for Hwang Hee-chan.
Aside from his goal involvements, Cunha won a stunning 14 duels with six ball recoveries.
The £44 million signing also completed four dribbles and induced five fouls from the Red Devils.
The Brazilian star’s performance was brilliant all-around, and United should pay a premium fee to sign him in January.
Wolves are ‘extremely reluctant‘ to part ways with the versatile forward, but the Red Devils should test their resolve with a package of around £60m.
The Midlands outfit are walking a tightrope with financial spending limits, and United should make an ambitious approach for him.
Wolves and United play with a similar 3-4-2-1 system, and Cunha could seamlessly adapt. He would be a dream partner for Bruno Fernandes behind the central striker.
If Wolves are prepared to cash in, United’s chances of signing him could still depend on a high-profile exit. Marcus Rashford may need to be offloaded permanently.
