West Ham United were pushing for the Premier League top four and won the Europa Conference League under previous manager David Moyes.
However, things are dire for the Hammers at the moment. Julen Lopetegui was appointed as manager in 2024, and things have gone downhill since.
The London club are only six points above the relegation zone. West Ham have lost three of their six Premier League games.
Slaven Bilic’s observation about West Ham players under Lopetegui
Former West Ham manager Slaven Bilic has been following West Ham this season, and he is not happy with how things are at the club right now.
Bilic told talkSPORT: “What I don’t like about West Ham at the moment or this season is I don’t see they are together. I don’t see that they are dying on the pitch. I don’t see that.
“I don’t see that energy, but then again, at the same time, it is easy to give up when you are losing three or four nil at half-time. But I don’t see that camaraderie.”
Despite not being impressed with West Ham this season, Bilic believes that the club’s board should keep faith in Lopetegui.
The former Watford boss has noted how Mikel Arteta did not have the best of times at Arsenal initially, and he is now flying.
“My choice is always to back the manager,” Bilic said. “I am always on the manager’s side. In time, he will do it.
“You have many examples. You have Arteta. In the beginning, it wasn’t that good what he had done. You have many managers like that.”
West Ham will take on fellow relegation candidates Wolverhampton Wanderers at the London Stadium in the Premier League on Monday evening.
If the Hammers fail to win against Wolves, then pressure will mount on Lopetegui.
