Everton fans are anxiously waiting to hear the official confirmation about the takeover, and Sky Sports’ Alan Myers has shared another update.
The Toffees are on the cusp of a new era under the Friedkin Group, but they will have to wait for the next week to get the news they all are desperate to hear.
Myers shared on social media that he doesn’t expect the Everton takeover confirmation to happen before the Arsenal game.
Everton will face the Gunners away from home next Saturday, and Myers thinks that any concrete development will take place after that.
While responding to questions relating to the Toffees’ takeover, Myers said: “No, probably after Arsenal.”
Everton’s Merseyside derby clash against Liverpool was called off today due to bad weather.
The Friedkin Group can expect to receive an official green signal before Chelsea’s visit to Goodison Park on Sunday, December 22.
The behind-the-scenes work has intensified in the last week, which suggests that the takeover completion is very near.
According to a report from iNews, the next week is viewed as ‘optimistic’ for confirmation as there is hope that final regulatory hurdles will be cleared in time.
The stage is almost set for Dan Friedkin to become the new custodian of the club at the start of the week before Christmas.
Everton fans have seen so many false dawns that they are not getting overly excited until they hear confirmation, a feeling echoed by Sean Dyche recently.
The major issue remains the complicated debt situation. Everton must pay £200 million to the 777 Partners, or rather insurers A-CAP, who are going through a series of legal battles.
It will be intriguing to see what the future holds for Sean Dyche.
The Friedkins have not made a decision on Dyche yet, and they should give him proper time and support before making the final call if the situation doesn’t improve.
