One consistent thing manager Ruben Amorim has done since his appointment as Manchester United boss is the rotation of his starting line-up.
This could prove helpful for Leny Yoro in building his fitness before the clash with Manchester City next Sunday.
Yoro made his first team debut in the 2-0 loss to Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday evening, replacing Harry Maguire just before the hour mark.
The talented defender has been nursing an injury he picked up during the pre-season tour of the United States and has been unavailable for selection before yesterday’s game.
He is regarded as one of the best youngsters in European football. He was nominated for the Golden Boy award but lost out to Barcelona ace Lamine Yamal.
Yoro is a ball-playing centre-back and reads the game brilliantly. His outstanding qualities made him one of the highly-coveted players in the summer transfer window.
He was the only U23 defender to record 90m percent passing accuracy, win at least 60% of his aerial duels, and win at least 60% of his ground duels last season.
Yoro has been projected to break into Amorim’s starting line-up, but he has to regain full fitness.
The French star can play as a central centre-back or play as the wide right centre-back in Amorim’s 3-4-2-1 tactical set-up.
The onus now lies on Amorim to help him recover fully for the forthcoming coming games, particularly before the first Manchester derby of the season.
The Portuguese manager could hand the 19-year-old his first start in the Premier League clash with Nottingham Forest at Old Trafford on Saturday.
Amorin could also hand the France youth international some minutes in the Europa League clash with Viktoria Plzen next Thursday.
By getting him to play at least 90 minutes between the Forest and Viktoria Plzen games, he should be fit enough to start against Man City.
United have not had a good start to the season in the Premier League. They need to string several victories together to boost their hopes of finishing in the top four.
This can only be done by Amorim being able to field his best team, and Yoro is potentially one of the players certain to get a starting berth.
