Big decision likely today – Lopetegui skating on thin ice at West Ham

West Ham United are in talks to sack Julen Lopetegui after a poor run of results.

According to the Daily Mail, the Hammers board members met today to discuss whether to sack the Spanish boss.

West Ham lost 3-1 against Leicester City on Tuesday night, which was their seventh defeat in the Premier League this season.

Under an underwhelming start to the season, Lopetegui’s position has come under major scrutiny.

The Hammers hierarchy has reportedly given ‘serious consideration’ to sack the manager after only seven months in charge.

Influential figures at the London Stadium feel that the appointment of the Spaniard was a mistake, and they have lost faith in him.

West Ham need to win against Wolves

The Hammers have picked up only one win in their last five games in the Premier League, and they have now suffered back-to-back defeats.

West Ham will face Wolverhampton Wanderers on Monday night, and it’s a must-win game for them.

Even if the Hammers board decide to stick with him for now, they will find it really difficult to put any trust in him if they lose against Wolves at home.

A section of West Ham fans have already turned against Lopetegui, and the club could make a big decision on him later today.

He took training on Thursday morning and will address the press on Friday. It is still unknown if he will be in charge of West Ham for the game against Wolves.

West Ham are checking on several options, and journalist Florian Plettenberg claims that Kasper Hjulmand has emerged as one of the candidates to replace him.

The Hammers could also look to appoint a manager with Premier League experience. Graham Potter could be an ideal option if that is the case.
