Rice was Arsenal’s best player against Man Utd last night

Arsenal registered a third-straight Premier League win with a 2-0 victory over Manchester United at the Emirates Stadium last night.

The Gunners had a difficult opening half against the Red Devils and were unable to dominate proceedings as usual.

United were organised with their defending, and Arsenal had just one clear-cut chance through Thomas Partey from a corner.

The London giants stepped up their performance after the interval and eventually scored from two corners from either side.

Jurrien Timber and William Saliba scored for Arsenal, but they were on the back of brilliant crosses from Declan Rice and Bukayo Saka.

Rice had a slow start against United. He had barely any impact in the opening 25 minutes, but his performance improved thereafter.

The Englishman won seven out of eight duels attempted with 100 percent accuracy with his long balls.

The 25-year-old also won all of his tackles and delivered three splendid crosses from corners.

One of those led to Timber’s goal. United goalkeeper Andre Onana had to be vigilant with some of Rice’s inswinging deliveries almost hitting the back of the net.

Rice was struggling with a broken toe last month, but he appears to have recovered well, considering his exceptional deliveries into the box last night.

Arsenal dropped to third in the league table yesterday after Chelsea’s heavy win at Southampton, but they are now within seven points of leaders Liverpool.

The Reds shared the spoils against Newcastle United after conceding a late equaliser. The Gunners need to keep on winning to pile the pressure on them.
