Journalist Florian Plettenberg has revealed Manchester United’s transfer priority between Victor Gyokeres and Victor Boniface.
United want to strengthen their attacking options and have both strikers on their radar.
The Red Devils hold more concrete interest in the Sporting CP forward over his Bayer Leverkusen counterparts.
United have held concrete talks about signing Gyokeres but must offload some players to sign him.
The former Brighton & Hove Albion forward is valued at €70 million
The 26-year-old worked with manager Ruben Amorim at Sporting, and a reunion may be on the cards.
A move for Boniface will be more difficult because Leverkusen want to extend his contract to ward off United’s interest and other suitors.
Negotiations have begun with the Nigerian striker and they intend on making him one of the club’s top earners.
Man United are showing ambition with interest in Gyokeres and Boniface
United’s interest in Gyokeres and Boniface indicates the club is heading in the right direction.
Gyokeres is regarded as one of the finest strikers in Europe at the moment. The Sporting ace has scored 24 goals in 21 games this season, including five in the Champions League.
Manchester City and Arsenal have also been linked with him.
Boniface is also one of Europe’s best strikers. He played a crucial role in helping Leverkusen win their first Bundesliga title last season.
He has continued his remarkable form this term, netting eight goals in 15 games.
While Marcus Rashford, Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee have all shown promising signs under Amorim, their form could be a flash in the pan.
Amorim must decide whether to keep faith with them or sign a new striker.
