Arsenal star was exceptional at West Ham alongside Bukayo Saka

Arsenal continued their winning streak with a comfortable 5-2 victory over West Ham United in the Premier League yesterday.

The Gunners went to the London Stadium on the back of scoring eight goals against Nottingham Forest and Sporting CP.

They replicated their scoring form with four goals in the opening 36 minutes before the Hammers reduced the deficit by two goals.

Arsenal grabbed a fifth from the penalty spot before the break, which killed the Hammers’ momentum.

The second half was a drab affair, with neither side scoring.

Bukayo Saka was undoubtedly the man of the match. He provided two assists and won the penalty scored by Martin Odegaard.

The Englishman also converted a penalty of his own, which was another superb display on the right side of the Gunners’ attack.

Odegaard was likewise impressive in the number 10 role. His return from injury has been a blessing in disguise for Arsenal.

The Norwegian did not provide an assist yesterday, but he made two key passes leading to goals, including one behind the Hammers backline for Saka.

Aside from his penalty converted, the 25-year-old completed 91 percent of his passes and 100 percent of his dribbles. He won four duels and made four ball recoveries.

His comeback has transformed the Gunners’ fortunes in the final third. Odegaard’s movement, distribution and leadership have brought the best out of Saka.

Saka has had more freedom in attack. The opposition regularly doubled up on him in the past, but they now also have to deal with Odegaard’s movement.

Arsenal have moved to second in the standings with the victory. They are six points behind leaders Liverpool, who host Manchester City in their game in hand.

The Gunners will be hoping that the Merseyside outfit drop points. City are on a six-match winless streak and will be determined to get something out of the game.
