Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones impressed heavily on his debut for England on Thursday night.
The 23-year-old has been outstanding for Liverpool under Arne Slot, and he deservedly got his national team call-up.
England earned a 3-0 victory against Greece in the Nations League game, where Jones made a dream debut by scoring the third goal for his country.
Phil McNulty of BBC Sport described Jones’ goal as a ‘flash of individual brilliance’ and said he marked his debut by scoring with a ‘stunning flicked finish’ from Morgan Gibbs-White’s cross.
Sky Sports journalist Ben Grounds has given Jones an 8/10 rating, and journalist Rob Dorsett added that it was a ‘sublime’ goal.
Greek media were mesmerised by Jones’s performance. Sport24 has described his goal as ‘stunning’.
Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard was also heavily impressed by Jones’s display for his country.
Arne Slot will be thrilled by Curtis Jones’ display for England
Since returning from injury, Jones has become a key player under Slot.
He was superb in the 2-1 win against Chelsea, where he scored the winning goal.
Jones produced a stellar performance in the 4-0 win against Bayer Leverkusen and has now delivered a top-class performance for his country.
The Reds midfielder is known for his unbelievable ball control and can carry the ball forward from tight situations without losing possession.
Against Greece, Jones made four tackles and made 68 passes with 95.6 percent accuracy to cap off an excellent performance.
Jones will have to play a big part for Liverpool after the international break
Slot has challenged Jones to replicate such performance on a weekly basis, and the midfielder will hopefully step up this season if he stays injury-free.
Liverpool will face Southampton, Real Madrid, Manchester City, Newcastle and Everton after the break, and Jones will be required to be at his imperial best.
The Reds are five points clear at the top of the Premier League table after 11 games.
