Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite has struggled with injuries this season, and it appears that he has picked up a fresh knock.
The Toffees defender returned to the starting line-up at West Ham United last Saturday. The match ended in a drab 0-0 draw, and Branthwaite appeared to sustain an injury.
The 22-year-old centre-back has been called up for the England national squad for the upcoming Nations League games.
Journalist Alan Myers has claimed on X today that Branthwaite is training separately from the main England squad.
He has picked up a slight knock against the Hammers and is currently being assessed ahead of England’s trip to Greece.
Everton need Branthwaite in top physical condition
The Toffees fans will be fuming with the news, as the club need Branthwaite in the best physical condition ahead of their gruelling fixtures after the international break.
Everton have lost only once in their last seven Premier League games, but they are 16th in the Premier League table.
They face Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City and Nottingham Forest after the break, and Sean Dyche will need his best defender to play in all those games.
He was probably rushed back into the starting line-up against West Ham as Dyche succumbed to the supporters’ pressure.
Everton fans will be frustrated that the club decided to allow Branthwaite to join the national camp when he was carrying an injury.
He has only made two starts in the Premier League this season and is clearly not properly fit at the moment.
