Casemiro excited by Amorim’s arrival as Manchester United manager

Casemiro has expressed excitement about Ruben Amorim’s arrival as Manchester United’s new manager.

He has been impressed by the Portuguese coach’s transformative work at Sporting CP, where he capped his tenure with a thrilling 4-2 comeback win over Braga before heading to Manchester.

The 39-year-old, known for his tactical prowess and ability to instil a winning mentality, has joined United on a contract lasting until 2027, with an option to extend.

Casemiro believes the new manager’s arrival is just what the team needs but acknowledges there is plenty of work to be done.

“Of course, we have to keep improving – we have the players to do that,” Casemiro said.

With the upcoming international break and a packed schedule ahead, he emphasised the importance of maintaining momentum, hinting that all players will need to contribute during the critical run of fixtures after the break.

While Amorim’s work permit is being processed, he is permitted to be present at United’s training ground, where he can hold discussions with interim manager Ruud van Nistelrooy.

Van Nistelrooy, who led the Red Devils in an unbeaten four-game stint as interim boss, has expressed his desire to remain part of Amorim’s team.

The former United striker, who rejoined the club as an assistant to Erik Ten Hag, was praised by the Brazilian, who said he ‘enjoyed it a lot’ working under him.

“He was a legend here and at Madrid – a number nine legend,” Casemiro added. “It was a pleasure to share that moment with him.

Amorim’s debut as United manager will be away at Ipswich Town on November 24. With limited time to implement his strategies, the match will provide an early test of his anticipated 3-4-3 formation.
